We got a few URGENT plea from the Conroe Animal Adoption Center for a deaf dog who needed rescue in Texas.

From Linda:

I am a volunteer at the Conroe Animal Adoption Center and we had a dog turned in by his owner a few days ago. His name is Eli and as far as I know he has always been deaf. Eli was adopted from us as a puppy the first of February and now brought back after almost a year being in a home. They said he barks too much.
He has only been here a couple of days, but he is already depressed. He stays curled up with his back to the front of the kennel and is so scared. One of the biggest problems is that one of the kennel techs said he was mean. She said she went to give him his shots and he backed up into the kennel and wouldn’t let her get near him. I asked what he did and that was it. He didn’t growl or bite. I think she startled him. (and he is scared) It is not like I know how to handle a deaf dog, but I know this shelter does not. I went back to stray hold where they are keeping him (they are not even putting him in the adoption room) and slowly approached him. I petted him slowly and he responded by licking my hand. He never showed any aggressions.  He is so sweet. Just confused, And what a place to be in to begin with and being deaf. Eli is a beautiful dog that needs out of the shelter and soon. He won’t last long there. He is a year and 2 months old, neutered, up to date on all his shots. Plus he is HW negative.
Any help you can give this guy, I would really appreciate it. I really believe this boy should have a chance and he won’t here.
I will help with transportation. Thank you, Linda

This was Eli’s first photo (above) Linda sent me. I told her I needed a much better photo of Eli in order for someone to take action and pull him. She sent me new a new photo of Eli (below) which seemed to do the trick.

I wrote Linda back and told her we would offer a $200 sponsorship fee to a non-profit rescue who would take Eli into their rescue and then get him into foster care so he can be trained and all applicants can be screened through a rescue.

Our Deaf Dogs Rock community immediately put out a URGENT rescue plea on Social Media calling out all 501c3 Rescues in Texas to let them know our community would financially sponsor Eli into rescue. We were so excited when we heard Renee Lundgren from Muttley Farms Rescue in Valley View Texas because they pulled Eli to safety and gladly took us up on our sponsorship offer. Eli is now currently in foster care. We mailed out a sponsorship check to Muttley Farms the following day. Stay tuned for Eli’s adoption listing coming soon!

Eli’s FREEDOM RIDE into rescue – from Muttley Farm’s Facebook Page

Update from Muttley Farm’s Facebook Page

From Eli: Eli – I just love to wrestle with my Dad. It’s also fun when the others join in. I’m learning so many things. They are also learning that I like to sit in your lap so move over. Here I come! The family that had me before said I barked all the time but I never bark here. Maybe that’s because I get plenty of attention from both humans and animals.

A big shout out to Linda Scholl for sending me Eli’s info and for being his advocate to make sure he got out of the shelter ASAP. Also thank you to Renee Lundgren and the Muttley Farms Team for saving Eli and also to his foster family for taking him in. Thanks also to our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community because without your generous support, we would not be able to offer financial sponsorship to dogs like Eli. I think it also gives new rescue partners an opportunity to rescue their first deaf dog and get the “deaf dog experience” under their belt.
