Update on Pete 3-29-2015: Pete did not make the entire transport from the Southeast to the West coast because one of the transport drivers fell in love with him so he made it to Texas but ADF had to find a transport team to take him back to Tallahassee so he could be officially “adopted”.

Pete made it all the way back to Tallahassee, FL and now he is part of the Logan family!

Pete with the Logan family

I heard from a nice lady named Judy Long down in Florida who told me folks drive by her home and drop dogs off at her country property often. One such dog she was really worried about was Pete. Judy mentioned Pete is a deaf pointer running free on her property and the only other option she had was to have Pete live his life out in one of her outdoor kennels. She didn’t think that would be a very good life for Pete so she reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help. Judy became more concerned about Pete when one day he came to Judy’s home with buckshot all over him. Judy sat for hours picking all the buckshot out of Pete’s body. Pete healed but she was so worried about him being shot again that she reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock to find him a rescue. With Pete running loose all over the country it is a good possibility more deaf puppies will be born in the area in the coming months because Pete was still an in tact male.

After two weeks of emailing back and fourth with Judy, Deaf Dogs Rock shared Pete’s info and offered a $150 sponsorship to a 501c3 Rescue to take Pete into their program. We had many of our Deaf Dogs Rock community share Pete’s photo on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page with friends and rescue organizations.

We were thrilled when Lisa Tipton with Angel Dogs Foundation Deaf Dog Ranch offered to take Pete into her ADF Rescue and she worked hard to get his long distance transport set up to go from the East coast to the West Coast. Thanks to Isa for taking care of Pete and getting him vetted while he waited for his rescue transport to take place.

Pete is now “pending adoption”. Lisa contacted us yesterday and let us know one of her transport drivers fell in love with Pete. He made it all the way to Texas but this weekend he will be transported back to Tallahassee, FL to be adopted and go to his new home.

Thanks to all of our Deaf Dogs Rock followers for sharing Pete’s original rescue plea and his transport run sheets. Because of all of you, Pete is going home!  Thanks to our Deaf Dogs Rock community for supporting our mission to save one deaf dog at a time so we can help groups like Angel Dog Foundation cover some of their expenses when it comes to rescuing deaf dogs like Pete.
