Because many of you donate to our cause, we can literally jump right into a rescue situation on a moment’s notice like we did last weekend. I received a message from a young lady named Bonnie in NC and she wrote to me that her neighbors had abandoned a deaf female dog a couple of weeks earlier. Bonnie had been feeding/watering the dog but she was extremely allergic to dogs and she was running out of options. She said the only local animal shelter was a high kill shelter and this abandoned dog was just to sweet to be euthanized.
I decided to put out an URGENT plea on our Deaf Dogs Rock Facebook page to see if there was a rescue nearby to go save this sweet girl. Since I was attending a fundraiser for Angels of Assisi the next day called the Biscuit Bash, I also decided to approach Lisa O’Neal the director of Angels of Assisi Rescue to see if she had an open space for this girl. I was thinking as a last resort I would make the trip myself to go get the dog on Sunday 9-22-2013. Luckily for me a rescue called the North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue went and saved this girl which was a huge weight off my shoulders. On our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page we had over 480 shares for this urgent plea so I want to thank all of you for pushing the share button.
Urgent – Abandoned deaf female needs rescue – NC
Because North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue pulled this sweet girl, Deaf Dogs Rock has donated $100.00 to go towards her shots and spaying. Her new name is Luna.
Here is a message I received from Denise Shea with the rescue: Christina, Here are her new pics and I just don’t know how to Thank You. She is just awesome. Everyone who comes in contact with her just adores her. I can’t wait for her forever home to find her. Thanks to your help she gets a whole new beginning. Her previous owners were quite abusive and I’m so happy they didn’t break this sweet girls spirit. Denise
A big shout out to Bonnie for taking care of this girl and for reaching out to us. Also a big thank you to North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue for stepping up and saving her and also thank you to all of your who pushed the share button on our DDR FB page. We would not be able to support the rescue efforts of out of state rescues if it was not for all of those who support our mission to save deaf dogs one dog at a time by donating to our cause. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
