Meet adoptable deaf, 12 week old chihuahua mix puppy Dash who is looking for a loving forever home with a person or family who will make daily positive reinforcement/training/socialization a priority and always keep him safe.

From his rescue advocate; This dashing little Chihuahua mix puppy is Dash; a little dynamo with a fearless spirit and a zest for adventure! This speedy little guy is a fan of chasing after his brothers and exploring everything around him. He’s a lot of personality in a petite puppy package. Dash is a big fan of the resident big dog in his foster home and isn’t afraid of anything that comes his way. While this boy does love to dash around doing zoomies from time to time, that’s just a small part of his personality. He’s also one of the sweetest puppies you’ll ever meet. He wants to make friends with every person he sees.

Dash is a chihuahua mix puppy–the rescue also took in his mother, so we know what she looks like (she is a chihuahua and only about 12 pounds), but we don’t know who his dad was and it’s obvious he was mixed with something slightly larger than his mom. At 12 weeks, he’s about 8 pounds, so he’s still petite but not as small as his mom. His foster mom thinks he may be mixed with Jack Russell or something similar–but that’s just a guess. Dash has a small frame, but VERY long legs for a little guy. It’s hard to guess with any certainty as to how big he will end up being, but possibly around 20 pounds or so when he’s fully grown. He won’t be a tiny chihuahua, but he also won’t be a large dog.

Dash also happens to be deaf! Though he’s deaf, it doesn’t hold him back; he adapts quickly and is always ready for new experiences. Dash thrives on staying close to his humans (since he can’t hear, he likes to make sure he knows where his person is) and absolutely loves snuggle sessions. His favorite place to be is right in his foster mom’s lap. If you’re up for learning how to train a special pup like Dash and have room in your heart for a brave, cuddly explorer, Dash is your perfect match!

Dash is still a baby and needs a family ready to invest the time and training a little guy his age needs to learn all the important puppy lessons. He’s still working on things like potty training, crate training, and leash training. Because Dash is deaf, he also needs people willing to learn how to train and work with a deaf puppy. He’s very smart, he just needs to learn lessons a little differently. He is also food-motivated, which is helpful in training. Puppies are a lot of work, but Dash’s joy for life and puppy snuggles make it all worthwhile!

Dash is being fostered through Freedom Ride Rescue in Raleigh, NC. If you are interested in adopting Darling Dash, you will need to apply and be approved through the rescue organization. Because it’s important that Dash find the RIGHT home for him, his foster mom is open to out-of-state adoptions, but we do not ship puppies so if you are interested in meeting/adopting Dash, you would have to make arrangements to come to NC. He is not neutered (nor will he be at the time of adoption–our vets will not neuter a puppy this young). His neuter is included in his adoption fee IF you use one of the rescue partner vets in the Raleigh area to have it done. If you are not local and cannot come to Raleigh for his neuter, you will be responsible for that when he is old enough. He has been microchipped and is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines.
