Update 5-20-2013: Sorry this update on Chilly is late because I am still playing catch up after doing a few transports. Here is the latest news on our rescue Chilly the deaf Aussie/Border Collie mix out of AL.  Because Chilly was showing major signs of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) we decided it would be in Chilly’s best interest to transport him to Tanya MacAllister at Poet’s Vision Rescue in Perth, Ontario. Poet’s Vision Rescue does amazing work with deaf Aussies and Aussie mixes like Chilly and Sprite. Chilly is now in foster care with Daryl and he is doing well. You can read more about Poet’s Vision here on DDR, by clicking here.

Daryl does need to drive Chilly to the dog park daily or his OCD starts to get in his way of learning. Chilly is now also living with deaf Aussie pup Sprite who was rescued a couple of weeks ago by Cathy Miller (Deaf Paws Haven) down in GA. Because of the support of our followers, DDR was able to rescue Chilly, transport, sponsor Chilly’s transport to Canada ($ 300 to FCHS and gas expenses) and also donate an additional $100 towards Chilly’s training and care to Poet’s Vision. Since Deaf Dogs Rock is so new our resources are very limited. With the help of our followers we can send money to our rescue friends like Poet’s Vision who help us with much needed rescue and foster homes for deaf dogs. Thanks for your continued support to save as many deaf dogs as we can. God Bless all of you. ~ Christina Lee – DDR

PS: Chilly is now available through Poet’s Vision Rescue. If you like to know more about Chilly and live in the Northeast contact Poet’s Vision Rescue by clicking here.

Update 3-10-2013: I went to visit Chilly today and work with his foster mom and dad on some training. Chilly is  having some separation anxiety issues but I think it is because they were locking him up in the kitchen on another level all by himself and he was freaking. Today we were working on mini training sessions for Chilly to learn to love his crate and to also move the crate in the bedroom with a night light on so he can see his foster parents. He also learned to “sit”, “laydown” , “watch me” and “wait”. He even rolled over twice. He is very smart but he does have some OCD issues with light and shadows so I am working with his foster parents and showing them how to redirect. He is very treat and toy motivated. We also introduced him to the cat and he was fine which is great news. Here are some new photos I took of Chilly today. He is starting to fill out and he is absolutely stunning. ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock

A beautiful six month old deaf border collie was rescued from a bad situation in Alabama and brought to Virginia by Deaf Dogs Rock. Chilly is a very sweet and smart boy. He needs some training but since he is a border collie he is very intelligent and he is a fast learner. He rides well in a car and he is up to date on routine shots, heart guard and he is neutered.

Since Chilly is a herding breed he will have energy so he would not be good for apartment living. Since he is deaf and a herding breed he will need room to run.

Photos from the day I transported Chilly from TN to VA. These were taken at his check in at the Franklin Co. Humane Society.

The Franklin Co. Humane Society is located at 18401 Virgil H Goode Hwy, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. To view the FCHS’s website,  please click here.

This is a photo of me (Christina Lee) after we rescued Chilly. He only weights 24 pounds so he needs to put on some weight. He is between 6 and 7 months old.
