Sometimes things just work out for a reason. When I read Bluebella’s story and read about the woman who adopted her Amanda Balz, I knew it was meant to be. It is stories just like this one that proves Deaf Dogs Rock with love and training they can be the best dogs. Here is Bluebelle’s Happy Tail told by her new human mommy Amanda Balz. Thank you Amanda for sharing your story with our Deaf Dogs Rock community. According to my two deaf dogs Nitro, Bud and myself, you and Bluebelle, totally ROCK!

Blue, short for Bluebelle, was purchased by a college student from a breeder for a low price due to her being deaf. After having her for a little more than 2 years, the young woman found out that Blue needed knee surgery to replace the ACL.

The young woman surrendered Blue to Heavensent Bulldog Rescue but did not tell them about the knee issues. She simply stated that she could not afford Blue any longer. Heavensent did their exam and found Blue’s knee issue. They paired with Anything For Da Bullies to raise money for to pay for her surgery. Sonja held 2 Facebook auctions and raised 2,800 dollars to pay for her surgery.

I found out about Blue through PetFinder. I’m a teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, so we are a perfect match. When Blue came home with me in Jan of 2013 she knew signs for sit, no, come and good girl. In a little over two months Blue learned the signs for outside, eat, car, treat, stay, stick, ball, crate, and walk with me. Currently we’re working on some tricks like under and hide.

Going home to Blue is the highlight of my day. She loves to be around people and kids. She had her surgery at the end of April 2013. It took until August for Blue to get her full stride back, but I don’t think either of us could be happier.
