It’s that time of year again! We are so excited to be going to the 2013 BlogPaws Conference! Nitro and I will be traveling to Northern Virginia this week to go to the annual BlogPaws Social Media and Pet Blogging Conference. We are very excited to see all of our pet loving blogging friends. This will be Nitro’s first trip but he is so laid back and such a good boy, I know he is going to have so much fun meeting everyone and all their animals.
I’ve been busy packing and getting organized this week in order to relax and have a great time once we get to BlogPaws. We are also looking forward to Saturday night when they roll out the Red Carpet Event for theBlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Pet Blogging and Social Media Awards. Deaf Dogs Rock is honored to be in the finalist categories of “Best Facebook Design”. Wish us luck!
Recap of the 2012 BlogPaws Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah
I had a blast at BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Conference of 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah! I got into SLC a day early to meet up with a friend so I could take a tour of Salt Lake City and Park City before my conference started the following day. I also got to town early to rehearse our routine for a Flat Pet Flash Mob that was performed in the middle of keynote speaker Betsy Saul’s (co-founder of Petfinder) presentation. We had a great time learning to do the dance and I had the pleasure of meeting some of the most amazing and fun Pet Bloggers.
The Conference was very educational and entertaining. They had Tillman the skate boarding Bulldog come in to perform with his friends Norman the Scooter Dog, Sully, Rose and Wally. Thanks to Natural Balance Pet Foods Inc. for sponsoring Tillman and Friends.
The BlogPaws workshops, sessions and keynote speakers were all very inspiring. Since our Deaf Dogs Rock blog is not even a year old, I tried my best to soak up as much information as I could. This was a very fast paced pet blogger social media conference so I tried to be on my game. I researched what sessions I would take ahead of time so I could plan ahead. I went from session to session, and then tried to meet as many pet product venders as I could while I had the time. I founds some wonderful products for our Deaf Dogs Rock followers. One of my favorite products at the conference was called The Doodie Pack (DoodiePack.com). The Doodie Pack was the brain child of founder Kristin Elliot. I think our Rockers are going to love this product for their deaf dogs since so many of us want a vest to say “deaf dog in training – please ask to pet”.
One of the highlights of my trip was my blog Deaf Dogs Rock being honored for the BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Award for Best Cause Blog. This award was not only an honor but because of the generousity of Halo Purely for Pets Inc. the award came with 5000 Halo meals to be delivered to rescue of my choice. I was so excited about this generous gift that I have chosen Angels of Assisi Rescue right here in Roanoke to receive the shipment of Halo high quality cat and dog food. I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces when the big Halo truck pulls up and delivers 5000 meals. That reminds me I better check with them on storage.
The following photos are of my trip to Salt Lake City to attend the 2012 BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Conference. A big shout out and thanks to the BlogPaws Team for putting on such an educational, entertaining and inspiring event. We can’t wait for BlogPaws 2013 which will be held in Tyson’s Corner, VA next year.
The Fun Started A Day Early To Tour Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah
Downtown Park City, Utah
This Moose was in front of one of the ski lifts and I just had to stop and take a photo because it had dogs hand painted all over it’s entire body.
A big shout out to my friend Mr. Gary Huntsman who took the time out of his very busy schedule to pick me up and give me the grand tour of Salt Lake City and Park City. We even got to go out to enjoy a wonderful seafood dinner in SLC. Thanks Gary, you ROCK!
Thanks Gary!
BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Conference – 2012 – Salt Lake City. Utah
The BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Conference kicked off in the host hotel parking lot and featured Tillman and Friends from Animal Planet’s “Who Let The Dogs Out” television series.
My new friend Lisa Pruitt Smith with her dog Zoey (the Bogger) Pruitt Smith and her parents (and their pup).
Can you tell they are HUGE fans of Zoey the Bogger dog?

The Flat Pet FLASH MOB!
For the past several weeks we have had a secret group of Flat Pet Flash Mob friends with all of us working together to do the very first “Flat Pet Flash Mob”. All of us practiced our routines at home watching a YouTube video of the routine. So I made sure to get into SLC a day early so I could make it over to the scheduled “secret flat pet flash mob” rehearsal at the Hotel. I think everyone involved in this secret undercover flash mob had a ball practicing the dance and meeting new blogging friends. This was such a great idea and a big shout out to Bev Van Zant with myflatpet.com for putting this all together. I met so many fun bloggers at rehearsal! The rehearsal worked out well because I started out at the beginning of the conference only knowing one person so this was a great opportunity to meet other pet bloggers before the conference actually started.
Lauren Girard with her talented and very well trained dog.
One of my favorite sessions was the session put on by Kenn Bell (Dog Files.com and The Dogs of 9/11). Kenn Bell is the Creater/Exec Producer of the website and video series, Dog Files and of the Animal Planet special “Hero Dogs of 9/11”. Kenn’s session was a mini-master class on logistics with information on planning, interviewing, lighting, and editing emotional videos and how to can keep an audience totally captivated when watching a video.
There were dogs, cats and ferrets roaming around the conference this year. Look at these two little ferrets all dressed up for the big Red Carpet Event right before the BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Awards ceremony. They looked like they were ready to party!

It was such a pleasure meeting Carol Bryant (L) and Kristin Elliott (C). I look forward to some fun projects with these two ladies in the future.

My Favorite Product Line At BlogPaws 2012
Doodie Pack was my favorite product at the BlogPaws Conference this year because so many of our deaf dog owners in our DDR community like to have a vest or something that reads “Deaf Dog In Training – Please Ask To Pet” and the Doodie Pack is perfect for deaf dog owners and their dogs. If you get a chance go check Kristin Elliot’s website at doodiepack.com
Nitro modeling his new Doodie Pack with the BlogPaws logo on the side. Next year the BlogPaws Conference is coming back to Tyson’s Corner, Virginia so I will be able to bring Nitro with me sporting his new BlogPaws Doodie Pack.

What’s Up DAWG? The Dogs of BlogPaws 2012
There were some good looking dogs waiting on Tillman and Friends. Under this photo I just want to put a caption that reads “What’s up DAWG?”
This is Duff an AKC Champion Italian Greyhound. I sat with him outside for awhile and just had fun taking his photo. He was just stunning.
The lighting was just right and Duff here was very photogenic!
I love this photo of Zoey (the Booger) Smith. She is just ROCKIN those Googles!
Another sweet Zoey (Zoey Sticks It To Canine Cancer) girl.
Zoey had many beautiful outfits.
The above photos barely scratch the surface of all the exciting events at the BlogPaws Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah this year. A big shout out goes out again to the BlogPaws Team for putting on such an amazing event. I bet they were just exhausted by the time this event came to an end.
My deaf dog Nitro and I are looking forward to the 2013 Blog Paws in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia next year. It was such a pleasure meeting everyone and I feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful pet blogging community. According to my deaf dog Nitro and I, you all totally ROCK!
Until next year! ~ Christina and Nitro Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
