Meet sweet deaf dog Berdy who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, make positive reinforcement training/enrichment/socialization a priority and always keep him safe.

From his shelter advocate:

This is Berdy! He is about 10 months old, mostly white with the cutest tan spot on his ear. We think he is a pittie mix (or Catahoula Bulldog mix)  but we aren’t 100% sure. Berdy was found as a stray near the lake here in Grapevine. A couple was enjoying their day at the lake when they saw him, noticed there was no owner around and brought him to us at the Grapevine Shelter. We scanned him for a microchip but he unfortunately did not have one. The couple who found Berdy told us that they thought he may have some hearing issues. He wasn’t with us long before we realized he is completely deaf. This has not stopped him from being a normal puppy in every other way. Berdy was pretty vocal his first few days at the shelter. He responded well to wearing a ThunderShirt and taking calming treats. He no longer needs the shirt, but we still give him the treats (he loves treats!) He has learned that we are here to take care of him and will not abandon him.

Berdy would do best with a family who can take the time he needs to learn how to communicate. He is still young and has a lot of energy, so he would benefit from someone who has the time to go on walks, to the park, or who has a yard where he can play. He has not been in play groups with any other dogs, although he is constantly trying to play with them through the fence.

Berdy can’t wait to meet you!
