Meet adoptable deaf and partially blind Aussie/Poodle mix Benny who is dreaming of a new home with someone who will be committed to daily positive reinforcement touch training/socialization/enrichment and always keep him safe.
From his rescue advocate:
Name: Benny
Breed: Aussie/poodle mix
Age: 12 weeks
Gender: male
Weight: Currently 20 pounds/~50 full grown
Disability: Deaf, partially blind (can see light/shapes out of one eye)
Color: White and black
Shots Up To Date: Yes
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Housebroken: In progress (puppy stage!)
Gets along with…..
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Not Sure, no exposure yet
Children: Yes, loves children!
Socialization/training: Benny is very socialized and loves to play with all dogs and people! He is a very typical puppy with puppy energy. He has mastered walking up the stairs, but is still working on going down. He is a quick learner and is currently working on potty training. He loves to play with toys in the yard and house!
Crate trained: Benny and his sister stay in a small room when their fosters have to leave, and they do very well. He can get into some typical puppy trouble if given the opportunity, but he generally sleeps while the foster is away. He typically falls asleep about 20 minutes after being put to bed. He sleeps all night, usually cuddled up with his sister!
Leash trained: Work in progress…
Activity Level: Benny has very typical puppy energy and needs time to run, play, wrestle, and then sleep! He would benefit greatly by having another active dog (or active humans!) in the house who love to run and play. Once he plays for a bit, he settles in for a nap!
Fence: Fence not required, but would recommend a good-sized area for him to run and play throughout the day!
Behavior: Benny is a very affectionate, playful, silly, and sweet puppy! He is not fearful or timid and he loves to cuddle. He loves exploring the yard and gets VERY excited when he finds his people or furry siblings.
Medical History: Benny has been neutered and is finishing his antibiotics. He is not on any long-term meds. He is deaf and partially blind, but has no health issues to note!
Foster Comments: Benny would benefit from an active home where his people aren’t gone for too long as he learns the ropes! Another dog (or two!) in the household would be a plus for him to learn his way around and burn some puppy energy.
