Meet adoptable deaf/visually impaired, one year old Beans who is looking for a very special home with someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement touch training/enrichment a priority and always keep her safe.

From her shelter advocate: Beans is a 1-Year-Old Mixed Breed | Deaf and Mostly Blind

Bean is a happy, healthy, and incredibly sweet 1-year-old mixed breed girl who experiences the world a little differently. She was born deaf and mostly blind, but her disabilities do not stop her from enjoying life or forming strong bonds with the people around her.

 

We do not know much about Bean’s background or what her life was like before coming to the shelter other than having a sibling that she would follow around. What we do know is that she is an extremely smart, affectionate, and resilient dog who has quickly shown us how much she loves people and other dogs.

Bean is potty trained, loves other dogs, and enjoys playing, getting the zoomies, and splashing through puddles. She seems especially drawn to light-colored dogs, and we believe she may be able to see some movement and distinguish certain colors.

One of Bean’s sweetest behaviors is the way she follows people she trusts. She will gently paw at your feet as she follows behind you, almost as if she is making sure you are still nearby. Because she cannot fully see or hear, Bean may need a few meetings with a new person before she feels comfortable and learns that they are safe. Once she recognizes someone as a trusted person, she quickly becomes attached and wants to stay close.

Bean would thrive in a patient and understanding home that can provide her with a safe, secure yard where she can play and explore. She would also love a family willing to give her time to build trust, plenty of affection, and lots of cuddles.

Bean may navigate the world differently, but she is a happy and loving dog who has so much to offer. She is looking for someone who will see her for the wonderful dog she is and give her the safe, loving home she deserves.
