I follow Penny Eims on the Examiner.com and I noticed her weekend posting about a deaf senior German Shepherd named Misty looking for a home.  I want to share this story with all of you and I hope you share it with your friends down South. According to Penny this senior German Shepherd dog was used to be a hearing service dog for a hearing impaired individual.

While another  rescue organization was doing a home visit (cat rescue) at this home, the volunteers found this dog in appalling conditions. Misty’s ears were so infested with mites that now she is deaf. I am asking all of our Deaf Dogs Rock readers to share this post with your friends down in Florida with hopes of finding Misty a new loving forever home. She is already 13 so it would be nice if her remaining time she could spend resting and getting lots of love from her new family.

Thanks for sharing! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock

If you know of someone who can help Misty, have them call Lisa at 561-714-7922 or Trudy at 561-733-2647 or email at gatorlisa04@yahoo.com

Recently, a volunteer with a cat rescue visited the home where Misty resided. The volunteer was conducting a home inspection for the rescue organization, but their visit to the house was likely life-saving for the now elderly German shepherd.

That individual was appalled by what they saw when Misty walked into the room.

The once regal dog was now a pitiful shell of her former self. Her coat was unkempt and her ears were so infested with mites that she had lost her hearing.

No longer young enough to be a viable “working dog” – she had been cast aside and neglected.
