Our Deaf Dogs Rock Community sponsored 13 deaf (some vision impaired) dogs and puppies into special needs rescues in the fourth month of 2025! Thank you to every single person who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in April 2025 so we can continue on our mission of helping deaf pups into rescue. A special thanks goes out to The Unstoppables Project for a grant they awarded to Deaf Dogs Rock so we can continue to help with vetting expenses for dogs like sweet LouAnne below. The Unstoppables Project is a collective group of dog lovers who have a passion for the perfectly imperfect and they advocate for, educate about and financially support dogs that are differently abled.
We also want to thank the Council of Community Services here in Roanoke for putting on #GiveRoanoke which is a one day per year fundraiser for local non-profits here in Roanoke, VA to have an opportunity to raise funds for their non-profits. The Council of Community Services also awarded Deaf Dogs Rock an additional $500 donation for their Lunch Money prize which was when a donor gives a gift between 12PM-1PM (randomly selected) the day of GiveRoanoke and an enhanced gift to Deaf Dogs Rock. This put us at just over $1600.00 raised for #GiveRoanoke which will sponsor and additional SIX dogs out of kill shelters into the safe arms of rescue.
It takes a thoughtful and giving tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission of helping one deaf dog at a time. Deaf Dogs Rock spends between $2500 and $4000.00 each month on Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorships. If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.
If you would like to donate in honor of a person, your deaf dog or in memory of one of your pets, you can send us a photo for our Honor/Memory Wall and donate here.
Every single day on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page you will see Rescue posts on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page which we put up for shelters across the country trying to get deaf dogs out of over crowded shelters before their time is up and they are euthanized. Sometimes a deaf dog who is surrendered only has a day or two for the opportunity to be pulled by a reputable foster based rescue so that is why you will see our organizations offer $250-$300 on almost every rescue plea we post up on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page so we can encourage rescues to help a deaf dog in need. Without the financial sponsorship offers to help with each dog’s vetting expenses, may of the deaf shelter dogs would parish and surely die within a few days.
The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program is to set up each deaf dog or puppy for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they can go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes. The foster homes are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care before they are available for adoption. This way, each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf pup for awhile, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes the very best match for each deaf dog when it comes to finding the right home for that particular deaf dog.
Deaf Dogs Rock works directly with shelters, rescues, sanctuaries, private individuals, and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, vetting, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.
When our rescue partners screen potential new homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow when considering a new home for example; like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian, and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program is so important to get the deaf dog out of the shelter (or from an individual) and help our partner rescues set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home. We do this by helping each rescue with vetting expenses so each puppy ends up in a rescue that specifically advocates for them and fully vets each special needs pup. Our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so each pup can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home (unless they are Great Danes or Dalmatians which need to done after 12 months of age).
Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored another 13 deaf dogs/pups into rescue in April 2025 which is a huge accomplishment in a struggling economy. In 2024 Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 149 deaf pups into the safe arms of rescue and we are kicking off 2025 starting with 51 deaf pups sponsored into rescue since 1/1/2025. So far since the beginning of our Rocker Dog/Puppy Program several years ago, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 1728 deaf dogs into rescue (as of 4/30/25).
Our April 2025 DDR Rescue Sponsorship Recaps are below:
LouAnne – Pink Heart Rescue – IN
We sponsored sweet LouAnne (formally Lucy) into Pink Heart Rescue in March but in April she needed more medical attention and X-rays done. She was in really rough shape coming from the shelter into rescue so because of the kindness of the Unstoppables Project grant we were able to commit to another $400 to go towards LouAnne’s vetting to help Pink Heart with her medical expenses. LouAnne is on the mend! The photo below is of her recently and she looks so much better than our photos we shared when we put up her first rescue plea. Thanks so much to The Unstoppables Project for their continued support and grant funds so we could step up and continue to help LouAnne become healthy again.
LouAnne is on her road to recovery! LouAnne has two septic joints that will be treated with antibiotics and because she has an infected rear leg that went untreated for so long it ate at her hock joint so she will have arthritis and will be on pain meds for the rest of her life. She will be going to PT and she will be receiving magnawave therapy to get her on her road to recovery. Thanks to our friends at Pink Heart Rescue for committing to rescuing LouAnne. We had her rescue plea up for sometime before she was pulled and she was in such rough shape but look at her now.

They landed at the Ranch on 4/4/25 and all three will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship program.

All there pups will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorship program to help all there puppies with their vetting expenses.
Angel – Nassau Humane Society – Florida
When the City of Enigma Animal Services in Enigma GA reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help with a deaf mama dog and her puppies we went right to work and put up a rescue plea for this girl. Her puppies were weaned at the shelter and adopted out but mama dog still needed rescue. We originally offered a $600 rescue sponsorship for the mama dog and her puppies but the City of Enigma Animal Services said they had a lot of interest in adoption so only the mama dog needed a rescue to take a chance on her. That is when Nassau Humane Society in Nassau FL, stepped up and pulled her to safety. Her new name is Angel and she is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship Program to help the rescue with her vetting expenses. It turns out Angel is Heartworm Positive and will need to go through HW treatment.
Tennessee Big Fluffy Dog Rescue – Deaf Blind Senior Aussie with Dwarfism Blossom
When Deaf Dogs Rock saw this little one who The Big Fluffy Dog Rescue took in we knew we had to help financially. This senior deaf/blind Aussie with Dwarfism looked to be in sad shape so we send in a medical sponsorship of $300.00 to get her vetting started or at least help out with some of her upcoming vetting expenses.
Update on Blossom 4/11/25: From Big Fluffy Dog Rescue: And now the glow up. This is Blossom, the blind and mostly deaf red merle mini Aussie with dwarfism that we have. She is free of lice now and I can stop having the willies. She does need a dental in the worst possible way but we think she’s maybe 6-7 and not quite as old as originally suspected.
Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue – Deaf Boston Terrier Muneca
Our friends at Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue took in two Boston Terriers and this little girl is deaf. Her name is Muneca and she will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue sponsorship program so we can help CHBR with some of her upcoming vetting expenses.
Jack – Paws 4Christ Animal Rescue – Victoria TX
When we heard from Paws 4Christ Animal Rescue in Texas requesting financial support for deaf dog Jack who is Heartworm Positive we sent in a medical sponsorship of $300 to help with some of his vetting expenses.
Xander – Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue – Northeast
When Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock asking for assistance for deaf boxer Xander, we were happy to help. Sweet Xander will be a recipient of Nitro’s Fund to help the rescue with vetting expenses to get Xander’s vetting done to get him ready for adoption soon. If you have a special boxer you would like to make a donation in honor of or in memory to and have it go to help the next deaf boxer, you can click here to learn more and donate to Nitro’s Fund.
GDU – Deaf Heeler girl – Virginia
This sweet deaf girl was pulled from Fredericksburg, VA and made it safely to Green Dogs Unleashed Rescue in Troy VA where she will get some additional sign training and learn to have some fun with other dogs. She is sponsored into rescue by our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship Fund to help GDU with her vetting and care.
Megatron – Hearty Paws Great Dane Rescue
When Lori from Hearty Paws Great Dane Rescue reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock for financial assistance for a handsome deaf Great Dane named Megatron who was pulled from a Fort Worth Shelter we wanted to help. When they first pulled Megatron he had a URI scare early on and he needed emergency vet care. He now needs to be neutered in order to get him ready for adoption in the near future and that is where Deaf Dogs Rock comes in. Megatron will be a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship program to help the rescue with his neuter surgery expenses.
Deaf Dogs Rock is so beyond blessed to have a wonderful community of deaf dog families and supporters who continue to support our mission to help one deaf dog at a time. When God blessed us with our deaf dog Nitro he gave me a purpose to help as many deaf and deaf/blind dogs as we could and with your help our mission continues even today after 14 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am wishing you all so many blessings and you have my heart felt gratitude. ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
