April 2024 was a very busy month for Deaf Dogs Rock. Our Deaf Dogs Rock Community sponsored 12 deaf dogs and puppies into special needs rescue in the fourth month of 2024! Wow what a huge accomplishment! Thank you to every single person who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in April so we can continue to sponsor deaf pups into rescue. For the Give Roanoke Day we also raised enough money to sponsor another 10 deaf dogs into rescue. Thank you to every single person who participated in Give Roanoke and donated to Deaf Dogs Rock.

It takes a tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission of helping one deaf dog at a time. Deaf Dogs Rock spends between $3000 and $5000.00  each month on Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorships!   If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.

Every single day on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page you will see Rescue posts which we put up for shelters across the country trying to get deaf dogs out of over crowded shelters before their time is up and they are euthanized. Sometimes a deaf dog who is surrendered only has a day or two for the opportunity to be pulled by a reputable foster based rescue so that is why you will see our organizations offer $200-$300 on almost every rescue plea we post up on our Deaf Dogs Rock FB page so we can encourage rescues to help a deaf dog in need. Without the financial offer of sponsorships these deaf dogs would surely die within a few days.

The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program is to set up each deaf dog or puppy for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they can go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes. The foster homes are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care before they are available for adoption. This way, each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf pup for awhile, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes the very best match for each deaf dog when it comes to finding the right home for that particular deaf dog.

Deaf Dogs Rock works directly with shelters, rescues, sanctuaries, private individuals, and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, vetting, socialization, and TLC to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When our rescue partners screen potential new homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow when considering a new home for example; like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian, and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue Sponsorship program is so important to get the deaf dog out of the shelter (or from an individual) and help our partner rescues set up each deaf pup for a successful happy life in their new home. We do this by helping each rescue with vetting expenses so each puppy ends up in a rescue that specifically advocates for them. Our Rocker Dog/Puppy Rescue sponsorship program financially sponsors deaf dogs/puppies so each pup can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home (unless they are Great Danes or Dalmatians which need to done after 12 months of age).

Our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored another 12 deaf dogs/pups in April, 2024 which is a huge accomplishment in a recession. So far in 2024 Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 60 deaf pups into rescue.  So far since the beginning of our Rocker Dog/Puppy Program several years ago, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 1588 deaf dogs into rescue (as of 4/30/24).

April 2024 Sponsorship Recaps are below:

Sweet Deaf Aussie pup – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary – MO

Our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary were able to locate the second deaf Aussie pup that was dumped (they found the first one but it did not make it) this sweet puppy is now safely with rescue. Can you imagine people being so cruel as to dump deaf and deaf/blind puppies to fend for themselves out on a country road? This little one is a recipient of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy-Dog Rescue Sponsorship program to help the rescue with upcoming vet expenses to get this little one healthy, on the road to recover (underweight) and match the deaf pup with a loving new forever home.

Three deaf Aussie pups – Double J Ranch Rescue – Idaho

When we got a plea from several people about three deaf Aussie pups at the San Bernadino CA City Shelter, we reached put up a rescue sponsorship plea on all our social media channels and started reaching out to several of our partner rescues. Our Arizona partners were working on pulling the pups but they had already been tagged by another rescue. We were so happy to hear from Double J Ranch Rescue that they had the three pups in their care and safely with a foster. One of the female pups needed immediate medical attention so she was taken to the vet. All three puppies will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy-Dog Rescue Sponsorship program to help Double J Ranch Rescue with some of their vetting expenses.

Yeti – Speak For the Unspoken –  Ohio

When I heard from a woman named Melody who has a small rescue in Dayton Ohio saying she was trying to rescue a deaf Husky puppy that has been sitting in a pet store for several month and is not 4 months old we knew we had to help. Melody was looking for another rescue who specializes in deaf pups and so we contacted our friends at Speak For The Unspoken in Grove City Ohio to ask them if they could make room for deaf Husky puppy Yeti. When I told them the puppy had spent the last few months in a pet story they were only to happy to help. Speak and Melody worked together to get Yeti into one of Speak’s foster homes. Thanks Melody for advocating for Yeti and reaching out to Deaf Dogs Rock for help. Thanks to Speak for making room for Yeti and thanks to our supporters who financially support Deaf Dogs Rock so we can sponsor sweet deaf puppy Yeti into rescue through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy/Dog Rescue Sponsorship program to help Speak For The Unspoken with some of Yeti’s vet expenses.

11 year old deaf senior – Fort Worth Animal Services (FWACC) to Apollo Support and Rescue for Abandoned Dogs

Above: When several people sent me this 11 year old deaf senior dog’s photo who had been surrendered because it snapped at a new baby in the home, we knew we had to offer a Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship Rescue Plea to see if there was a rescue who could help this little one.

Freedom Ride

We were so thrilled to hear that right before the euthanasia deadline Apollo Support and Rescue had tagged and pulled this little one to safety. We honored our rescue sponsorship pledge as soon as we received word and the above photos that this little one is safe. A huge shout out to Angela Jones who brought our attention to the deafie needed help and also to Apollo Support and Rescue for pulling this little sweetheart!

Pearl (formally known as Cleo)  – Prince George’s County Maryland – Love Paws Rescue

We put up a $250 rescue sponsorship offer for a little deaf puppy in a shelter in Prince George’s County Maryland and we are so happy to report that the Love Paws Rescue pulled Cleo (now known as Pearl). She was rushed to the vet after they picked her up because she was showing signs of pneumonia. Deaf Dogs Rock has sent in the $250 Rocker Puppy Rescue Sponsorship to help Love Paws with some of Pearl’s vetting expenses.

Five Deaf Aussie pups from Texas – Speak Rescue and Sanctuary – MO

When we heard from a woman in Texas about five deaf Aussie pups, we reached out to our friends at Speak Rescue and Sanctuary in MO and offered a rescue sponsorship for each deaf puppy through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorship program. With a group of volunteers the team at Speak got all five pups safely from Texas to MO. We are so thankful to all the rescue warriors who helped with these five little deafies. Thanks to our friends Pat and Vern for raising money so that they could help with our sponsorship to get these five deaf pups into rescue.

Thanks also to the Harris and Peraino family (Agata, Siba, Marie and family) for also sending in a donation to help sponsor these five deaf pups into rescue.

Thanks again to every single person who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the month of April so we can continue to sponsor deaf dogs and puppies into partner rescues. We so appreciate every one of you. ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
