Our Deaf Dogs Rock community has sponsored 13 deaf dogs/pups into rescue in the month of April 2021. We are in full swing of puppy season in April with deaf puppies showing up at Animal Shelters across the country. With sponsoring 19 deaf dogs in January and another 21 deaf dogs in February and 13 deaf dogs in March and 13 deaf dogs in April, our Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 66 deaf dogs into rescue in the first four months of 2021.
It takes a tribe of animal lovers to support Deaf Dogs Rock to continue to carry out our mission. If you would like to help sponsor a deaf dog out of a kill shelter into the safe arms of rescue, please click here to Donate.
The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster homes who are committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog, and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure the organization makes a great match for each deaf dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts.
Deaf Dogs Rock works with shelters, rescues, private individual and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program and into rescue. By doing so, each deaf pup gets the individual training, socialization, and love to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and our number one priority will always be to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.
When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, each partner rescue has a specific set of guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicant’s veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set each deaf pup up for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy sponsorship program financially sponsors each deaf dogs/puppies so the dogs can be vaccinated and spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescue partners and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf pup is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home. Casper – Angels of Assisi Rescue – Roanoke VA
We had so many people sending up Casper’s photo when he was found in a hoarding situation in WV. We were trying to get more info on him (everyone kept sending me his photo but no information on him) and by the time we asked for his specific information we found out he had a rescue commitment. We had offered a rescue sponsorship so we were thrilled to see he landed right here in Roanoke Va at our friends at Angels of Assisi Rescue. He will not be sponsored by our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program which will help with his vetting costs and care. Thanks to our friends Patricia and Vern Kerst who upcycle furniture and resell it to help Deaf Dogs Rock continue to sponsor deaf dogs in need. Casper’s sponsorship was done by Patricia and Vern.
Ghost – Canine Castaways – Indiana
When we saw handsome deaf boxer Ghost with Canine Castaways Rescue in Fountaintown IN, we were reminded of our own boxers Bud, Axl Blu and our Nitro so we knew we had to help him. We sponsored Ghost’s vetting through Nitro’s Fund to make sure he gets the vetting he needs before he goes to his new home. Thanks to Canine Castaways Rescue for saving him, being his advocate and making sure he finds a loving forever home.

Our friends at Green Dogs Unleashed took Callie is so she can go straight into foster care to learn new things, get her vetting done and find a loving forever home. Nitro’s Fund will sponsor deaf boxer Callie so we can help Green Dogs Unleashed pay for her vetting. The funds from Nitro’s Fund go specifically to help deaf boxers and boxer mixes with their sponsorship and medical expenses.
Two Tiny Deaf Pups – Green Dogs Unleashed – Virginia
These two tiny deaf puppies came into the world when someone bred a deaf dog. When mama dog stopped feeding the puppies the owners tried feeding the 3 little pups beef broth. They got very sick and one passed away. These two deaf puppies are still in critical condition but are being well care for by the staff at Green Dogs Unleashed (and the vet staff that is also taking care of them). Deaf Dogs Rock sent in to DDR Rocker Puppy Sponsorships to Green Dogs Unleashed rescue here in Virginia to help with their vetting costs. Thank goodness GDU took these puppies in and rushed them to the emergency vet. A big shout out and thank you to Alice Benningfield for her continued support. At the end of March Alice donated enough for us to sponsor these two little ones to help with their vetting. Every single day they are getting a little stronger!
Baloo and Mowgli – Speak St. Louis Rescue
Sweet deaf puppies Mowgli and Baloo will be recipients of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy sponsorship program to help with their vetting costs. Both deaf puppies are now safely with Speak St. Louis Rescue where they will go into an experienced deaf dog foster home, learn new things, work on sign training and get all their vetting completed while potential homes are being carefully screened. Mowgli and Baloo are about 8 or 9 weeks old and are Texas Heelers, which is a cross of an Australian Shepherd and Heeler. Unfortunately each of their parents carry the merle gene which caused the pups to inherit two copies of the gene (double merle). This can cause an excessive white coat and the pups can be deaf and/or blind. These two brothers may be deaf but they are also great adorable pups with really good temperaments.
Marshall – Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue
Thanks to our friend Monica Brown for alerting us to deaf dog Scoob aka now named Marshall. He needed a rescue and we let Monica know that Deaf Dogs Rock would sponsor Marshall into rescue through our Rocker Puppy Sponsorship program. Marshall is a sweet deaf 9 month old who was pulled from a high kill shelter in Texas by Chelsea’s Hope Boxer Rescue.
