It’s pretty impossible not to love Ahi! Meet adoptable deaf one year old Border Collie mix Ahi who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, make daily positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment a priority and always keep her safe.

Ahi is a 1-year-old goofball who is always on the lookout for fun. Like a true herding breed dog, she loves to always be on the move and is a smart girl who loves to learn. Ahi was born deaf, but that doesn’t stop her from being a happy-go-lucky pup. Ahi is full-grown at just under 40lbs.

Ahi is currently being fostered by the family who adopted her littermate. Unfortunately, Ahi’s previous owners were not able to keep up with her exercise requirements and she was returned to the person who bred her mom. Once her foster family heard about her, they wasted no time to come to her rescue and we were happy to make her a YCSPCA dog and help find her fur-ever home.

Ahi is a confident girl who loves to explore and make new friends. She has come to a few adoption events and has blown us away with how social she is out and about. She would be a great dog for someone who likes to go to dog-friendly breweries. She is a higher-energy girl, so she needs an active family that will ensure she gets lots of daily exercise and enrichment to keep her busy mind and body happy. She is still learning all her basic manners (especially how to not get too excited when saying hello), so her new family will need to be committed to working on her training and helping her learn how to be the best girl she can be. She is VERY food-motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat.

Ahi loves other dogs but can be too much energy for older or smaller dogs. She could be a great addition to a home with another playful medium/large dog, but she also wouldn’t mind being your spoiled-only fur kid. Ahi is a little too interested in playing with cats and needs a kitty-free home. Ahi could do well in a home with kids 10 years or older.

Ahi is housetrained in her foster home, but her new family should be patient with her while she is settling into a new home and routine and expect a few accidents. Ahi is crate-trained and does well in her crate overnight and when her foster family isn’t home.

Ahi is such a rockstar dog and we know she is going to make a great companion for the right family.
