O’Kelley, who stars in ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager,’ said her 11-year-old Yorkie named Walter was being held by a man who demanded a $1K reward. After the dog was missing for two days, she was finally reunited with him after the dognapper apparently gave him up.
Actress Tricia O’Kelley was forced into some real-life drama after her deaf 11-year-old mini Yorkie went missing — and it turned out he was being held for ransom.
While O’Kelley was finally reunited with petite pooch Walter over the weekend, the two days he was gone took an emotional toll on the family.
“He’s the biggest love in the world,” O’Kelley, 44, told Zap2it.com as she pleaded for his return through the media last week. “He’s probably terrified.”
Walter vanished Thursday afternoon from the fenced-in backyard of the family’s Los Angeles home.
O’Kelley, who currently stars in ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” said she got a call on her cellphone from a blocked number later that day. Her phone is listed on Walter’s tags.
The menacing man on the other line was looking for pay back.
“He said, ‘What is the dog worth to you?’” O’Kelley told KABC-TV.
She offered $500, but the man wanted more. He demanded $1,000, O’Kelley said, as another man began laughing in the background.
The diabolic dognapper then told O’Kelley’s husband — Hollywood producer Adam Rosenblatt — that he’d call back.
But the couple alerted police. When the man called back, O’Kelley put the call on a speaker phone so that cops could listen in on a second line.
