Meet adoptable deaf border collie mix Vixey who is looking for a loving forever home.
From her caregiver: Vixey is an 8 year old border collie/mini Aussie mix and is such a lover girl. I adopted her from a shelter at 3 months old, knowing she was deaf and determined to give her a wonderful life. I taught her several ASL signs and she is super smart and catches on to new things quickly.
Unfortunately, my current life situation has required me to take on more work hours outside of the house, and she deserves more freedom than I can give her. Vixey has a ton of energy, and being cooped up all week while I work has taken its toll on both her and I. She is great with other dogs – in fact it is preferred, as she uses other dogs’ social and physical cues to translate what’s going on around her. She follows other dogs’ leads very well and can quickly fall into a good routine with them. Due to her herding instincts, she is not great with cats, bunnies or chickens (the only other animals she’s encounter besides dogs). Vixey is amazing with kids and has been with all 3 of mine from birth and is great with each stage. She just needs a safe space to roam and run, and to be loved by someone who can navigate her deafness.
Vixey’s adoption fee is $300 to a screened and approved home only and you must live within two hours of Carbonado WA to be considered for adoption.
