Thank you to all of our supporters who donated to Deaf Dogs Rock in the month of November to keep our mission going! The core mission of our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program is to set up each deaf puppy/dog for success by sending them into a experienced special needs rescue where they go into a experienced deaf dog foster home that is committed to training and socializing each deaf dog that comes into their care. This way each foster advocate gets the opportunity to live with the deaf dog, work with the deaf dog and accurately evaluate each deaf dog/puppy to make sure to match the dog with the right home once the adoption screening process starts. The adoption screening process is very thorough. Each interested family must fill out an adoption application that asks lots of questions and a full list of references is required to be considered for adoption.

We work with shelters, rescues, private individual and breeders to help get each deaf puppy into our program to make sure each deaf dog/puppy gets the individual training, socialization, and love to grow up to become a cherished member of society. Deaf Dogs Rock is a judgement free zone and are here to help deaf dogs and puppies get a fresh start and a chance at a great life.

When screening potential homes for a deaf dog/puppy, there are many guidelines to follow like checking all references, talking to the applicants veterinarian and performing a thorough home visit to make sure each home is a safe place for a deaf or deaf/blind dog. This is why our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy is so important to set each deaf pup up for a successful happy life in their new home. Our Rocker Puppy program financially sponsors each deaf dog/puppy so the dogs can be spay/neutered before they are adopted to a new family. We only work with rescues and advocacy organizations who are committed in making sure each deaf dog/puppy is spay/neutered before being placed in a new home.

It is our number one mission to make sure each deaf dog and puppy gets basic training, socialization. are in a loving and caring foster home where their confidence soars. Our partners set each deaf dog up for success. Jan – Novermber 2019, Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored a total of 124 deaf dogs and puppies into have been sponsored into rescue so far this year.

In Novermber 2019, our Deaf Dogs Rock community sponsored 13 deaf dogs into the safe harbor of rescue so they can start on their new journey to finding their forever homes. Thank you to all of you who continue to support Deaf Dogs Rock by donating, hosting fundraisers and spreading the word to family and friends on how awesome deaf dogs can be.

For the past five years Deaf Dogs Rock has sponsored 649 deaf dogs/puppies (as of 11/30/19) into rescue and we could not have done it without the full support of our amazing Deaf Dogs Rock community so thank you, thank you, thank you for the bottom of our hearts! ~ Christina Lee and the entire DDR team

Ivy – I Stand With My Pack Rescue CA

We had so many people tag us on the deaf shepherd/husky mix 10 month old deaf puppy stuck in the Lancaster CA shelter that we immediately put out a $200 rescue sponsorship for a reputable foster based 501c3 dog rescue in CA to help out and sure enough one did! Thanks to I Stand With My Pack Rescue for pulling deaf shepherd/husky mix Ivy out of Landcaster. A foster home  stepped forward and ISWMP stepped up to pull her and get her into the safe arms of rescue.  She is only 10 months old which unfortunately what we see  here at Deaf Dogs Rock on a daily basis is so many surrenders of 6 to 16 month old deaf pups being surrendered. Many times it is because people like the idea of adopting a deaf puppy but then they don’t do the training/socialization/structure a deaf puppy thrives on so they often end up in shelters because the puppies become unruly. The good news is a 10 month old deaf puppy will soak up ASL sign training really fast.

When we got word of how many deaf Great Danes White Kisses Great Dane Rescue was taking in our Deaf Dogs Rock Community wanted to help so we stepped up and sponsored five of the deaf Great Danes who have come into rescue to help the rescue with medical and vetting costs so they can continue to rescue deaf danes, get them into foster care, get them into their training program, screen potential homes and find each dog a loving forever home. By helping them out with some of the medical costs it will allow the rescue to continue to pull deaf danes who are in immediate danger to the safe arms of their rescue. Thanks to the White Kisses Great Dane Rescue Team for working so had to advocate for these beautiful deaf creatures who have no voice. It is always the most vulnerable animals that pay the biggest price. Thank you also to all of you who have donated in honor of your deaf dog on Nitro’s one year Anniversary of his passing. We appreciate your continued love and support! ~ Christina

Evander – Perfect Imperfections Rescue

Evander is a sweet 10 month old deaf border collie who needed rescue and Perfect Imperfections Rescue in CT stepped up to make room for him. It was our pleasure to help Evander with a Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Rescue sponsorship to help with his vetting so he can get ready for his new forever home. Thanks Trisha with Perfect Imperfections for saving this boy.

Sinatra – GDU

It was a pleasure to help out deaf Dalmatian Sinatra into our Dear Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy program which will sponsor his vetting needs when he gets into rescue. Update 12/26/19: Sweet deaf dalmatian Sinatra is currently available for adoption at Green Dogs Unleashed in Troy VA. He is doing great in his foster home and learning all kinds of new things.

Hank – GDU – Pending

When we were contacted by a good Samaritan regarding a deaf puppy she had saved in Texas, we reached out to our friends at Green Dogs Unleashed and Highway Heroes Rescue Transport to figure out a way to get Hank to GDU before the holidays. We will be transporting Hank on November 23-24 with his freedom ride from Texas to Virginia. I can’t wait to meet Hank! He will be sponsored through our Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Program which sponsors deaf dogs and puppies into partner rescues where they go into experienced foster homes, attend weekly puppy classes at GDU and wait for the perfect forever home with someone who will love and cherish Hank.

Maverick – Deaf Dog Rescue of America

Poor Maverick needs a lot of medical attention so we did a Deaf Dogs Rock Medical sponsorship to help the Deaf Dog Rescue of America get him the help he  needs.

Food donation to Angels of Assisi

Our local rescue Angels of Assisi always steps up and helps Deaf Dogs Rock when we have urgent deaf dogs in need. The recently went to NC and pulled deaf dog Casper and brought him to Virginia to safety into their rescue. Casper was recently adopted but we wanted to let Angles of Assisi know how much we appreciate their help in times of need. They also step up and take in some of the worst hoarding cases in the Southeast and they are always in need of supplies so for Axl’s first birthday we loaded them up with much needed dog food, doggy potty pads, dog treats and slip leads for their staff. We did a special fundraiser on Facebook to help cover the cost of supplies. Thanks to everyone who donated locally so we can continue to partner with local rescue partners to help as many deaf dogs and puppies as we can.

Vision (formerly known as Butters) The Four Legged Ranch Rescue

Thanks to The Four Legged Ranch Rescue for taking Vision into rescue. A Caring Place Rescue reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock looking for a special needs rescue so we offered a $200 Deaf Dogs Rock Rocker Puppy Sponsorship to help Vision (formerly Butters) into rescue which would cover some of his vetting costs. We wan thank the volunteers who drove Vision to rescue and to our supporters so we can continue to help deaf rescue pups in need.

Betsey – Blackjack Animal Rescue and Catahoula Connection

A big shout out to Sharon Bryant with Blackjack Animal Rescue & Catahoula Connection who reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock so we could sponsor a deaf and visually impaired 12 week old Catahoula puppy named Betsey. Isn’t she the cutest puppy ever. Right now we get so many requests for help with Catahoula puppies and dogs that we are so happy to work with a new partner rescue where we can directly contact this rescue when the deaf Catahoulas need help.

Ellie – Green Dogs Unleashed

When Raymond and Pat reached out to Deaf Dogs Rock to list their 22 month old deaf Golden Doodle Ellie we told them about our very Rocker Puppy Program. We also reached out to Green Dogs Unleashed to see if they would have room for Ellie here in Virginia in their program. This way Ellie could get the much needed training at GDU and also find the perfect forever home with someone willing to continue her positive reinforcement training and socialization to help Ellie be the best she can be. This past weekend Ellie made her way from PA to VA. We are always here to help deaf dogs and their families make the right decision when it comes to getting a deaf dog into the right rescue and training program. We appreciate the help of our supporters who host fundraisers to help us help deaf dogs like Ellie. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
