Hi I’m Casey Weber. This is my deaf dog Charlie’s Happy Tail. I believe he is a Catahoula Leopard Cur. I’ve had Charlie since he was about 3 months old. They told me when I got him that he was born deaf. Charlie is going on six years old now and everyone always compliments him because they say he “listens” better than any of the hearing dogs!

Charlie and I do everything together. We like to go four wheeling, boating, rock climbing, and pretty much any kind of fun outdoor sports. We’re always looking for “Big Grand Adventures!” Charlie and I have had quite the ride. Together we are Dura-Dog and Dura-Dude! He has had a few tumbles over the years and I fell about 30 feet on a job site almost two years ago. I broke seven vertebrae, 8 ribs, and my shoulder. I was in the hospital for three months. We missed each other so much!

Charlie and I both cried when we saw each other at the hospital. I’m doing much better now. Charlie and I are pretty much inseparable. He’s laying at the foot of my bed while I’m typing his Happy Tail so we can cuddle. I love my deaf little buddy! We all say that he doesn’t need to hear things. He just knows what’s needed and what’s going on around him. My deaf dog Charlie totally rocks!

Thanks for sharing our story.
