Meet Zena adoptable deaf, two and a half year old Zena who is looking for a loving home with someone who will cherish her, teach her new things using positive reinforcement training/enrichment and always keep her safe.

From her shelter advocate:

Zena is a two and a half year old white Australian Cattle Dog mix available for adoption at the Humane Society of Tuolumne County in Northern California. Zena is an incredibly sweet and friendly little lady who has been nothing but loving to our shelter staff since we got her.

We pulled Zena from an animal control in the Central Valley, so we don’t have much information on her background, but we do know that she doesn’t enjoy being around small dogs or cats. Because of her friendly and affectionate temperament, we think Zena could thrive in a variety of different household with different energy levels and lifestyles. We also think Zena could do well living with children as long as they are gentle and respectful of her.

Zena’s previous owners were beginning to teach her some sign language cues, and we believe that she could pick up on reinforcement-based training very quickly with a dedicated owner! Zena is 30lbs, spayed, and up to date on all current vaccinations and preventatives.
Zena’s ideal adopter would have:
-No small dogs or cats
-Motivation to train with Zena and help her learn cues that will make her life as a deaf dog easier and more comfortable
-Lots of love to give to this sweet girl!
