Meet adoptable deaf 1.5 year old boxer Sunshine who isl looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish her, be her best friend and always keep her safe.
From her rescue: Hi, my name is Sunshine! I am 1½ years old and deaf. I may not be able to hear my foster mom when she talks to me, but I do see how her mouth moves when she smiles at me and says my name, so I know she likes me and is talking to me, which makes me wiggly and happy. If you need me to do something, I know some hand signals and am very willing to learn more. I’m very eager and motivated by love and food. Being deaf helps me be more observant, so I’ll watch you more closely.
Eventually, I’ll be able to understand all your body language and subtle cues. I will often come looking for you if you’ve left the room while I was snoozing. I’ll check your normal places, nosing open doors, and sniffing for your scent until I find where you’ve gone. You’ll find I crave schedules, structure, and repetition. In addition to being an observant watcher, my sense of smell is amazing. I can smell food and crumbs from a mile away. Let’s put it this way, you won’t need a vacuum with me around.
I’m not very fond of being in a crate/kennel, and will let the world know that by sharing my full volume bark. I’d just really much prefer being with my people.
I am full of energy and I love to run around the yard and do zoomies and jump over anything in my way. I really enjoy playing Frisbee and in the mornings I like bone tossing and doing whirly whirls!! I also love sturdy and indestructible toys, and play hard. I’m very smart and a quick learner. It would be really great if my forever family takes me to training classes so that I can learn, with them, how to be the best Sunshine I can be. I’m eager to please, so it really would be a lot of fun.
I have lived with a couple of dogs in my previous home, but I still need to work on learning body language of other furry friends, so I’m hoping my forever family can help me with that. Even when I have misunderstood my past furry friends, we always made up with lots of kisses. I would also do best in a home without any cats.
In my previous life, I accidentally swallowed a big shiny rock. I think maybe I thought it was a toy. It made me very sick because no one knew it was in my intestines. I felt like I was starving all the time and my tummy hurt even though I was getting food. Eating hurt and made me cranky and I still wanted more food, then I would end up throwing up. This was a dire time; I love food, I want food all the time—I want your food, my food, anyone’s food! I want it all. After I got the medical care I needed, I felt much better, and am doing fine now. I will need my human’s help though to keep small objects like toys or anything shiny, away from me, because I still may be tempted to try to eat it, and I sure don’t want to go through that again!
Well, that’s enough about me. Overall, I think anyone who gives me a chance will see how awesome, loving, and loyal I can be. If you’d like to set up a time to meet me, please let the people at MLBR know by submitting an adoption application – https://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/adopt. If you have any questions about me, you can send MLBR a private message too. Hope to meet my forever family soon!!
