Sammy is about as adorable and goofy as they come! He is still just a (55 lb) puppy who is eager to explore (and mostly sniff) the world around him. Whenever we are walking him, we almost always get stopped by someone who tells us how beautiful he is (those green eyes) — then we mention that he is also deaf — and they basically melt and can’t resist petting him!!

While Sammy is deaf, he is very smart and eager to please! In one month he has already mastered: sit, stay, lay down, come, place and back up. Sammy also loves to give kisses and be close to his humans (forget about personal space). He does have some separation anxiety and mouthy (puppy) behavior, but is improving with continued training and sticking to a routine.

Sammy would do well in a home that is going to give him lots of attention and is willing to continue to train him using hand signals (don’t worry, it’s easy). He would do well with another dog but could also keep someone busy as an only dog given his high energy levels. Thus, long walks and/or a big yard is a must for Sammy’s future family!
