Meet adoptable, 2 year old, deaf mixed (Aussie or Catahoula mix) Pistachio who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him, make positive reinforcement training/socialization/enrichment/exercise a priority and always keep him safe.

From his rescue advocate;

I’m guessed to be an Australian Shepherd mix and I weigh about 60 lbs. I’m a sweet boy and I am 2 years old. I’m labeled as special needs because I have hearing a vision impairments. I can hear loud noises and my vision is affected by a condition called starburst pupils. This is a very common condition in the eyes of double merles. The pupil will be shaped with spiked, jagged, or irregular edges. This does not allow the pupil to react normally to light and can cause a light sensitivity for the dog. I have hearing impairments for the same reason. But there are benefits to not being able to hear everything, for instance, I’m not afraid of thunderstorms or fireworks and I don’t bark at noisy neighbors.

I also sleep completely undisturbed. I’m a gorgeous boy and I play along well with dogs of all sizes. I am truly a LOVE BUG, I am the sweetest guy, I truly am. I really like men! When I get a male visitor I get very animated and I give them lots of attention. I also LOVE belly rubs. I have had 2 weeks of professional training and my foster mum will continue to reinforce what I have learned. But what I want any potential mum or dad to know is that I need time to settle in your loving home.

With my vision and hearing deficits I have anxiety and can be reactive. You may know that you are here for me and will love me but it might take some time for me to realize that. I am not a big fan of being crated but foster mum says I have to when she is at work so I deal with it…. still not my favorite thing… I am house trained and do all my business outside. Please give me a chance to show you that I am a good boy.
