Meet adoptable deaf dog Moose who is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will cherish him and always keep him safe.

From his shelter advocate:

Moose was found as a stray in September 2021 and picked up by Animal Control. He was roaming with a black dog, we named Sally, on a county road in Frankfort KY. Once at the shelter it was discovered that Moose was deaf and that he looked to Sally for guidance. She is his companion and they are bonded. It was also discovered that Moose didn’t care for other male dogs, maybe because of being protective of his Sally. As this is written Moose and Sally have been at the shelter for 330 days (10 months).

Moose is deaf and seems to be a Lab/Great Pyr mix. He is estimated to be between 1-2 years old and he weighs 53 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, heartworm tested and microchipped. Sally is estimated to be 2+ years old and weighs about the same as Moose. She has had the same vetting as well. She doesn’t have issues with any other dogs. The shelter staff and volunteers have taken a liking to this pair and hope to find them a home together but it has been 10 months and nobody has agreed to foster them and adoption interest is lacking. A rescue organization is welcome to pull them and the shelter can usually assist with part of the transport or more, depending on the location. It is asked that anyone interested in adopting actually come meet them and if they have other dogs to bring them as well. We don’t Moose and Sally ending out in a shelter somewhere else.

Interested rescue organizations should contact the shelter’s Rescue Coordinator at rescuebrigade@gmail.com and adopters will need to fill out an adoption application and email in order to set up an appointment to meet this pair. The adoption application and email address can be found at https://www.fchsanimals.org/adopt.html and once received the shelter will call to schedule a visit. Moose, Sally and the shelter staff/volunteers thank you for caring.
