Jordy- WI – Adopted

Update 7/17/18 – Jordy has been adopted!

Meet adoptable deaf Lab mix Jordy who is looking for a loving home with someone who will work on training him (using positive reinforcement methods), love him and always keep him safe.

From the shelter and Jordy: My name is Jordy. I am two years young and a handsome little boy! I am a HUGE cuddle bug with a wild side. Just like most, I enjoy playing with toys and doing “treat puzzles”, but also love a good nap…. or 4 (I could sleep all day if it was allowed). I was surrendered to HAWS back in December of 2017 because I wasn’t getting along with the other dogs in the home. You see, since I’m deaf, I get very protective over my belongings (food, toys etc.). The good news though, is my friends here at HAWS have not seen any issues when it comes to people around my things- just other animals. I need to be the only animal in the home because of my animal resource issue but I PROMISE you I’m worth it. Unfortunately, due to my time in the shelter I have developed a couple bad habits (that were not seen in the previous home).

Sometimes I get too excited with play and I start to become very mouthy. I don’t mean too, I just get over stimulated, so I must go to a home with children 16 and older. My on-leash dog reactivity has gotten progressively worse. Luckily both of those things can be worked with, it’ll just take a little more time and some extra patience since I can’t hear commands. I know all my basic manners like sit, come, and stay/wait using sign language. All around I’m just a quirky, one-of-a-kind boy, looking for his furever home, I may not be perfect but I am worth it! Come see me Mon.-Friday 1-6, Sat. 11-4 and Sun. 12-4. To come see me, stop into the shelter and hang out with me in a room and get to know me. Once you fall in love with me, and are willing to work with me, schedule an adoption and meet with a trainer to discuss my mouthiness and how to set me up for success. If you have any questions about me, give HAWS a call!!!
