For the past 10 years I have had the pleasure to be the media partner (I used to work WSLQ Q99) for Dogtoberfest hosted by Saint Francis Service Dog Training Center. One of my favorite things about being in the media-advertising business is helping and supporting non-profit organizations. Saint Francis Service Dogs is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to assist children and adults with disabilities become more independent and self-sufficient through partnership with a professionally trained service dog.
Every year Saint Francis Service Dogs puts on a wonderful fall festival called Dogtoberfest. This festival is for dog lovers and their dogs to have a fun filled day of demonstrations, costume contests, parade of dog breeds, blessings of the animals, and much more. Every year this event raises thousands of dollars to help Saint Francis provide service dogs to people in need of a service dog.
Here are some photos I took last year at Dogtoberfest. These photos were taken about 6 weeks before we adopted our deaf dog Nitro. We took little Miss Tallulah with us last year and we all had so much fun. This year Dogtoberfest is this Saturday Oct 1, 2011 from 10am to 4pm at the Saint Francis Training Center in Roanoke, VA.
What dog festivals do you have in your area this year? Do you take your dog to them?
