Meet adoptable deaf dog Hazel who is looking for a loving home with someone who will embrace her personality, cherish her and always kee her safe.
Hazel is a two year old boxer/bully mix located in Ashtabula, Ohio. She originally came from City Dogs Cleveland – Division of Animal Care and Control picked up as a stray on the streets of Cleveland where it was discovered that she is deaf. She has been in three homes proving to be good with boisterous dogs and cats with proper introductions.
Hazel would be best in a home with older children as she can be exuberant in her greetings. At the kennel, she was distinguished for her playful and social nature with other dogs in daily playgroups and knows how to get down and dirty with the most effective wrestling moves. This sweet girl makes an excellent running and hiking companion and can follow trails like the best of them!
Although she enjoys being active, she is just as happy to be your couch potato at the end of the day to snuggle up with. Since Hazel cannot hear with her ears, she shows us that she listens with her eyes and hears with her heart. She is very intuitive and looks to her person for cues. This skill continues to develop as she learns to communicate. With more consistency, she would thrive in learning new tricks. Hazel needs a dedicated owner who will take time to teach her sign language so she can learn to be her best self. Hazel is up to date on vaccines and heartworm, flea and tick prevention.
