Update 7-26-2013: Dozer arrived in Washington State at 2pm EST today and was greeted by his new family. A big shout out to the Lang family and the Franklin County Humane Society for not giving up on Dozer and finding him the perfect home. Also thanks to all the kids at the Wilkinson School who donated money for Dozer’s tail surgery. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Murray family for taking a chance at adopting a deaf dog that was located way across the country. According to my deaf dogs Nitro, Bud and myself, you totally ROCK! ~ Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock

Update 6-30-2013: Dozer came out to the Deaf Dogs Rock headquarters this morning for a play date and he was just amazing. He is the best dog and he seems to really enjoy the company of other dogs. He had met Bud in the past but not Nitro. They became fast friends in no time at all. Some lucky person who adopts Dozer will be winning what we call here at the farm “the dog lottery”. If I didn’t have five dogs already Dozer would be living here with Nitro and Bud. If you have been looking for a very special deaf dog, look no further! Contact the Franklin County Humane Society (the contact info is below) and set up an appointment to meet Dozer. According to my deaf dogs Nitro and Bud, Dozer totally ROCKS! ~ Christina

Update 5-25-2013: Dozer is learning “watch me”, “sit”, “down” and leash manners. The Langs have been taking him all over to socialize him. They are also working on his house training so he will be the best he can be before he goes to his new home. Above is the latest photo provided by Kim Lang and her family.
Update 5-21-2013: Thank God for friends. My friend Kim Yvonne Lang and her family are not only sponsoring Dozer but they have him in foster care with their family. Dozer will be in a big family while he waits to find his forever home. Thank you Kim and David for being so kind and taking in Dozer. According to Kim Dozer is just an awesome sweet young dog. Here is a photo she took. Dozer looks like he is really suffering doesn’t he? BOL!
Update: Dozer had his tail removed because it kept breaking open and getting infected. When they went to dock Dozer’s tail the Vet realized there was a few problems with some bones and scare tissue so they took his whole tail off. He sure looks like a boxer boy now. When I saw Dozer today he was still wearing a cone. I worry about him because he kept sitting down and he just wanted to be hugged. He has started to dig in his kennel so he is stressed and he needs a foster or forever home. He is such a special boy so I am praying someone will see that he is so special and he will be adopted and adored. Please share Dozer’s listing so we can find him a home.
Meet Dozer! He is a young male deaf Boxer mix boy that was just saved from the pound and is now at the Franklin County Humane Society in Rocky Mount, VA. Isn’t he so handsome? Dozer will need someone committed to his obedience training using positive reinforcement training techniques and sign commands. Deaf dogs are very easy to train and we provide lots of training resources of Deaf Dogs Rock
Since Dozer is a deaf high energy boxer mix, he may tend to have some puppy energy so he needs to be in a home where he can live inside with his family but also h ave access to a secured fenced yard to keep him safe. Since he is young he should do fine with other dogs but you will need to ask the staff at the FCHS to assess how he does with other dogs, kids and cats.
If you think you can give Dozer a happy home and make him part of your family contact The Franklin County Humane Society and Planned Pethood Clinic and Adoption Center at 540-489-3491 (18401 Virgil H. Goode Hwy, Rocky Mount, VA 24151)to meet Dozer. If you would like to fill out an adoption application, please click here.
