Meet adoptable deaf dog Beau who is a fully trained deaf dog looking for a loving forever home to call his own with someone who will cherish him and alwyas have his best interests at heart.
From his current caregiver: Beau is the most happy-go-lucky! He thinks he is a lap dog and absolutely loves to snuggle, but when it’s time to play, swim, or go for a hike…he is all ready for it!
Beau is a Dogo Argentino mix. He is 2 years old, deaf, and is approx 60lbs. He loves playing with other dogs, but isn’t the best with picking up their cues that they are done playing. He has been around babies and small children and absolutely is wonderful with them…he may try to eat their snack though!
Beau is crate trained, house trained, knows sign language, good on a leash, and works well with a vibration collar to be communicated with.
He is neutered, UTD on all shots, and is on Tri-heart plus for heartworm preventive.
Responds to: sit, down, stay, place, here (come), leave it, and no.
Energy level: moderate
Currently exercised- at least 1 hour a day. Varies between long walks, hikes, swimming at the lake, playing in the yard and play dates with other dogs.
Indoor dog but enjoys outdoors and exercise.
The ideal family would give him the attention he needs and can handle his stubbornness. He can learn rules, but he tries everything at least one, so consistency is key.
Beau has never shown any aggression towards humans or other dogs- even with food and toys. He’s been around dogs from 4lbs to 120 lbs.
Since he can’t hear he may have to be corrected to calm down his playing as he matches the intensity of the other dogs. He doesn’t hear their intensity with their snapping. He’s received training with this and has a e collar- not shock collar- that acts as his hearing aid.He does get along with other dogs, but is known to irritate other dogs since he is deaf and doesn’t hear when they tell him to stop.
He has lived with a cat for a few weeks and did fine as the rule was strong to not interact with the cat.
