Update 7-4-2012: Tommy still needs a home and his foster time is running out. Can you help spread the word? Please share Tommy with everyone you know. Thanks so much! Christina Lee – Deaf Dogs Rock
Update 6-5-2012: URGENT Tommy Loves the Mailmen! Meet Tommy Taco! This sweet pit bull is 45 lb. little lover. His hobbies include napping, sitting on laps, playing fetch, sniffing for rats, and learning new tricks. He is a big cuddler and kisser and is great with kids. Tommy is deaf. He is trained with some hand signals, and is a very fast learner.
Its surprising how easy it is to learn to communicate with a deaf dog… it becomes very automatic. In some ways having a deaf dog can even benefit his behavior. He cant hear the dog barking upstairs, or the ambulance driving down the street. Tommy came from an abusive home and was rescued from a high kill shelter in New York.
He needs a home with a loving person or family who doesnt mind having a very cuddly pup in their life. He would be great to live in a home with kids (like 10 and up) who want to play fetch and snuggle with him while watching tv or doing homework. He is protective of his home, he will check out the perimeter of the apartment to keep him family safe, but is very warm and welcoming to guests, delivery guys… he’s friends with the mail man. He is crate trained and is usually asleep in a little ball when you return to him. While he is kind of a bed hog, he is easy to train and eager to learn.
He does not get along with dogs or cats because of his former home. He is fixed, has all his shots, and is 1-2 years old!Meet handsome Tommy. His time at his foster is running out fast so he either needs a new foster but a forever home would be the best thing for him. He does need to be the only dog in the house.
