Update July 11, 2012: Skylar has been adopted by the Hale family and now her new name is Luna. She looks like a Luna, doesn’t she? Congratulations to Luna and the Hale Family. According to my deaf dog Nitro and I, the Hale Family totally ROCKS!
Meet adorable Skylar. He is our Deaf Dogs Rock Star of the day today. Skylar is only 16 weeks old and she is a deaf female Dalmatian Mix puppy. She is fairly small for her age. Since she is deaf she will need a special family who is patient and committed to training her and teaching her sign commands so she can grow up to be the best dog she can be.
Because Skylar is deaf she needs to be an inside dog (deaf dogs do not do well outside away from their humans) except for when it is time to go out and play in her fenced yard. Because Skylar is so young she should do fine with other dogs. She would do better in homes with older kids of at least 10+.
Skylar is currently at the Ewotah Valley Humane Society at 36 Ladds Mountain Rd, Cartersville, GA. You can contact the shelter at 770-383-3338
