Update: 7-5-2012: I just got word from my friend Cathy Miller with Deaf Paws Haven that Scout has found a home. This is great news because we had so many people share her link that she found a home withing 24 hours of being listed here on Deaf Dogs Rock. Thanks to all of you who shared this little girls link. I’m not sure why they gave this little princess a boy’s name but the good news is since she is deaf and only 14 weeks old, you can easily change her name to something that fits her “Diva Style” if you decide to adopt her. She is just 14 weeks old and her name is Scout. She is up to date on her shots and she is spayed. She is not housebroken yet but Aussies are very smart dogs so with a little crate training, she should be good to go in no time at all. Aussies make great working dogs, agility dogs, rally, obedience and trick dogs. Because Aussies are smart and have some energy Scout will need a hands on family willing to take the time to teach her sign commands, keep her active and challenger her by giving her a job to do. Aussies do well in group training for Agility, Ralley and Obedience.
Aussies are not well suited to be apartment dogs. Because Scout is deaf and an Aussie she will need a back yard to play in and to keep her safe. Because she is young she should do just fine with other dogs. She is a puppy and puppies chew so they are more work. She would be better suited in a house with older children (but not to many because of the chaos that comes with higher numbers of kids running around in the house).
