Update on 8-12-2012: Casper is waiting for his forever home.
Casper is a beautiful 13 month old, 30 LB white, male DEAF Bull Terrier/American Pit Bull Mix who was saved from the Hartford Shelter. He has one gorgeous ice blue eye and a heart of gold. He loves people, other dogs, and cats. Casper is what most people refer to as a “special needs” dog, because he is deaf and has a cerebral disorder that affects his motor skills. Casper’s quality of life has not been affected by his condition; he has the same interests and attitude as any other 6 month old puppy, and he deserves a loving, forever home.
His cerebral disorder doesn’t affect his learning abilities, only his motor skills. When he walks it’s more of a march. He doesn’t know to bend the joints in his front legs. It’s rather cute. Casper is actually very smart. He’s learning obedience commands through hand signals just like any other deaf dog. He is very food motivated and likes to learn. Going up and down stairs still makes Casper nervous, but he’s getting better. It’s the initial step that he doesn’t like. Casper also crates beautifully. He loves curling up with a blanket. Casper wants nothing more than to have his own family to love. Every time he meets someone new, he bounds over and rolls onto his back asking for a belly rub. He would be so lucky and grateful for someone to open their home and heart to him. If you are interested in adopting him, please visit thesimonfoundation.org
He is neutered and up to date on shots and the adoption fee includes 3 (of 6) free training sessions.
